Meet Toffee & Dixie!
Toffee and Dixie come in to visit patients, relatives and staff – they are Pets As Therapy, or PAT dogs.
Their owner Karen Hannah experienced ellenor’s care when her mum was with us in 2004 and now she comes in with the dogs to “give something back as are family was so well cared for when mum was at the hospice.”
She now visits with her husband Phil.
She says: “We absolutely love our visits. It really is a privilege and the dogs just seem to know what everyone needs – whether that’s the patients, their families and friends and the staff as well. Sometimes we see patients who have moved to the hospice who we have previously visited at the hospital where we also take them in and this can often give reassurance.”
If you see them, they love a treat – and are often spoilt when they come in…but they’re allowed to be and they love it!
