Glorious Gardens is a much-loved community event made possible by the incredible generosity of local garden owners. For one day only, these beautiful private gardens open their gates to the public, inviting visitors to explore, be inspired, and enjoy the creativity, care, and tranquillity of each unique space.
Our gardens help to raise vital funds for ellenor so we can continue providing compassionate care to our patients and their families. Every visit helps make a real difference, supporting specialist care for people living with life-limiting illness.
By strolling through these stunning gardens, enjoying the atmosphere, and sharing in the spirit of community, you are directly helping ellenor continue its essential work. We are deeply grateful to our garden owners and everyone who takes part — together, you help us care when it matters most.

For visitors planning to explore several gardens, the Glorious Gardens Annual Pass offers the best value and experience. Priced at £55, the pass allows entry to all 13 participating gardens and can be purchased at our first three gardens. This means you receive entry to two gardens free, while enjoying unlimited access to the full Glorious Gardens event.
Many visitors choose the Annual Pass to fully enjoy the variety, creativity, and beauty of each unique garden while maximising their support for ellenor hospice. Every visit and every pass purchased helps raise vital funds, ensuring ellenor can continue providing compassionate hospice care to families across Gravesend, Dartford, Northfleet, and the wider Kent community.

Swanley Village
Join us in the stunning grounds of the Old Vicarage as we continue celebrating our family’s journey in this beautiful village. Following last year’s 40-year milestone, we’re delighted to gather with friends and neighbours to enjoy a breath-taking carpet of golden daffodils, peaceful surroundings, and the simple pleasure of community togetherness
Kings Drive, Gravesend
Liz’s garden has a central lawn with a long pebble bed on one side and beds around a small pond. She has lovingly cared for her garden for many years. Liz loves haphazard planting and has a little shaded wild area. This is where she spends many a happy hours and gives herself backache! Liz has so enjoyed visiting other people’s gardens and wanted to open to raise money for ellenor.
Pencroft, Dartford
This is a wonderful garden tucked away in a leafy road in West Dartford. The garden is full of a huge variety of plants and interesting ornaments and trailing paths to explore.
Butterflies, Longfield
Butterflies garden is a tranquil, mature garden nestled among trees, offering a quiet, sun-drenched retreat. ellenor invites you to enjoy this beautiful private garden, generously opened by Julia and Peter to support ellenor.
Ashen Drive, Dartford
Ashen Drive Garden is a beautifully cared-for and versatile space, lovingly designed to offer something for everyone. Caroline has skilfully created distinct areas for relaxing, growing vegetables, and nurturing a rich variety of flowers and plants, all of which complement the surroundings and are kept to an impeccable standard.
Meopham Windmill
Meopham Windmill was built circa 1820 and is one of only a small handful of six-sided hexagonal smock mills in the whole of the UK. The garden is well manicured and tendered by the Trust and offers a relaxing area to enjoy the views of the windmill and village green.
South Hill Road, Gravesend
Head to Windmill Hill this Summer, to see this beautiful cottage garden dedicated to nurturing wildlife. There are also 3 ponds, which are popular with local wildlife – with amphibians, dragonflies and birds as visitors. Judith has packed her border beds with flowers for pollinators, and there is also a small wildflower lawn.
St Francis Road, Harvel
This is a haven of well-kept greenery and is hidden in the heart of Harvel village. With its fossil walled pond and views over the surrounding fields it is a tranquil spot to visit and relax.
The Turnstones, Gravesend
Owner Josette is opening her garden once again this August. Come and visit this delightful small and wild garden. Carefully descend the steps leading to a lower garden path, ascend the other side through an archway covered in foliage.
Thornton House, Hartley
Susan and David are delighted to open their garden again this year. It is a large and varied garden with different areas providing something for everyone – from an art studio and stone lanterns, to a veg patch and a path leading to the woods.
ellenor Garden
ellenor are immensely proud to be closing the season this year with our very own Glorious Garden. Thoughtfully designed and lovingly developed, our newly extended garden has been fully landscaped and is accessible to everyone, offering a welcoming and inclusive space for all to enjoy.
