In The Room With Preet
Hi, I’m Preet and I’ve recently joined ellenor as a Marketing Volunteer. I’ve been helping out
across the marketing team and it’s been great seeing the variety of work involved. I’m really
enjoying being part of the team and wanted to share a bit about myself.

I can’t start my day without… checking the latest sports news – I’m a huge Liverpool fan.
My life motto is… treat others the way you want to be treated.
I boost my wellbeing by… travelling. I love experiencing new cultures and escaping the
miserable British weather.
What makes me laugh is… a classic comedy series — I always have The Office (US) on
repeat.
My biggest weakness is… desserts! I have a massive sweet tooth and enjoy trying out
different bakeries.
Introvert or extrovert? Both. I enjoy meeting new people, but I’m more of a quiet person at
first.
Who inspires you the most, and why? My grandparents. Their resilience and determination
have shown me what it means to persevere and work hard, and their guidance has shaped how
I approach my own goals and challenges.
A piece of advice I’d give to my younger self is… Just enjoy every moment, because you’ll
never get time back. I’ve realised how quickly life moves and how important it is to appreciate
each stage as it comes, and to worry less about the things you can’t control.
You’ve been working as part of the marketing team. Having now seen ellenor from the
inside, what do you think it really means to tell this kind of story well?
I think it means putting people first and taking the time to listen and really understand their
experiences before sharing them. It’s about being thoughtful and sensitive, and making sure
stories feel genuine and true to the people behind them.
What’s something you’ve learned about ellenor that you don’t think people outside the
organisation would expect?
I think many people see ellenor simply as a hospice, but I was surprised by the wide range of
services it offers, and the support and community outreach it provides alongside patient care.
Volunteering has shown me how important this work is for patients and the local community, and
how much of a difference charities like ellenor make everyday
