In The Room With Sue Marshall,
Our Practice Development  Facilitator

My journey with ellenor has shaped me in the most profound ways. This place oozes empathy from every nook and cranny. Over the 24 years I’ve been here, one phrase I’ve heard more times than I can count is “I don’t know how you do your job.” The truth is, working here is a privilege, not just a job. I’ve learned never to take life for granted, and to find happiness wherever and whenever you can.

What makes me tick?

Music – The Stranglers, Elvis, Motown, disco (perfect for tackling Cinderella-style chores at home), and classical when I need to switch my brain on.

Nature – Wow. Even the fiercest storm has beauty in it.

Animals – Another wow. So much love, freely given.

Camping –  Who would’ve thought? Yes, I know but honestly, you don’t know until you try it, just like so many things in life.

I try to live by two simple mottos – “Suck it up, buttercup.” And “If I can bring a smile to just one person’s face each day, that means the world.”

I can’t start my day without … 4 cups of tea and a cuddle with my canine child

My life motto is …” suck it up buttercup”

I boost my well-being by …walking in the woods, baking cakes and eating chocolate

What makes me laugh is … making others laugh – laughter is so underestimated

My biggest weakness is … saying No

Introvert or extrovert … both actually,

Who inspires you the most and why? … The people and their loved ones that we support

A piece of advice I’d give to my younger self is …take time to look after myself.
